    James Haynes, JD
    Associate Director, Government Affairs, MGMA

    Prior to joining MGMA, James Haynes was the Federal Policy Director for the nonprofit organization Veterans Education Success where he worked to support student veterans in higher education. Previously, James held the roles of Federal Policy Manager, Legal Advisor, and Law Fellow within the organization.  

    James received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and is licensed to practice law in Virginia. During law school, James worked as a judicial intern for the Honorable Robin Meriweather on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, as well as for the Honorable Wanda Keyes Heard on the Circuit Court of Baltimore City. Additionally, he gained experience as a legal intern at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia Homicide Division.  

    Prior to attending law school, James graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in finance from Virginia Tech University.

    Felix Umetiti
    Analyst, Government Affairs, MGMA

    Before joining MGMA, Felix worked at Athenahealth in solutions management and onboarding. He worked to oversee the technical onboarding of scores of healthcare organizations, with a focus on supporting federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) and rural health clinics (RHCs). During this time, Felix acted as a technical solutions consultant for dozens of healthcare organizations on issues surrounding CMS compliance standards and revenue cycle management.

    Felix earned a bachelor’s degree in public health and legal studies from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and gained additional research and administration experience as an intern at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

    Maddie Weil
    Analyst, Government Affairs, MGMA

    Before joining MGMA, Madeline served as a research analyst with NORC at the University of Chicago and the National Committee for Quality Assurance. She supported research and evaluation projects related to alternative payment models (APMs), quality measurement, and Medicare and Medicaid policy. As an undergraduate, Madeline worked with the Rhode Island Department of Health’s Oral Health Program as project coordinator for a four-year HRSA-awarded grant and evaluated a statewide oral health commission.

    Madeline graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in health policy and management from Providence College and is pursuing her master’s in public health with a concentration in health policy from George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health, part-time.
