Wednesday's General Session - Balancing the Human Touch with Digital Innovation to Enhance Patient Experience with Dr. Wendy Sue Swanson
The third and final day of MGMA’s Medical Practice Excellence Conference will come to a close with a general session presented by Wendy Sue Swanson today at 3:15 pm ET.An MD, pediatrician, entrepreneur, consultant, author and former chief of digital innovation at Seattle Children’s Hospital, Swanson celebrates the sudden embrace of telemedicine and social media during the COVID-19 pandemic, but she’s also quick to remind providers that human touch is still the biggest part of the doctor-patient experience.
“[When I started], there was always this concern that even the electronic health record on the computer in the exam room was taking away our ability to connect, to provide hands-on care, care that was deeply compassionate, accurate, timely and meaningful,” Swanson said in a recent episode of the MGMA Insights podcast. “But I know that those who need help – patients and family or caregivers – and those who have help – doctors, nurses, phlebotomists – can have intimate connections in using digital technology.”
