Navigating Today's World of Audits
Audits have become a dirty word, and many people want to avoid them the way they try to stay out of the dentist's chair. But it doesn’t have to be that way. At least not according to audit experts Sandy Giangreco Brown, Director of Coding & Revenue Integrity, CLA, and Diane Weiss, Vice President, Revenue Integrity and Education at RestorixHealth.
Weiss and Giangreco Brown are speaking at the Medical Practice Excellence: Financial and Operations Conference this morning on the topic of Navigating Today’s World of Audits. This session will present an update on current audit activity from government and commercial payers. The session will also detail what to do when notified of an audit; who should be involved in the entire audit management process; how best to prepare the most complete and appropriate response; and how to best utilize the offered or included education.
MGMA caught up with the duo for a podcast interview on Sunday, March 19 to hear them dispel myths about audits and to provide practice administrators with a blueprint on how to embrace the auditing process. And why not?
As Giancrego Brown said, “I think it's a natural thing that Diane and I both spend a fair amount of our time trying to help folks by navigating through the audit process when you are audited, because it's not a matter of if it's a matter of when.”
