This paper explores the risks and benefits of hiring a physician with a board action related to professional boundaries. Physician recruitment is costly, but may pale in comparison to the impacts of failing to retain a quality practitioner. This paper provides thought provoking information found through published article research, interviews, and personal experience. Proper investigation, preparation, and integration of a physician with a board action into the practice could be a wise investment. Recruiting physicians with a skill set for a rural setting can be challenging and those with a board action should not be hastily overlooked.
